Jelly is a young Venezuelan mother and wife who arrived in the United States under TPS in 2022, searching for a better future for her family. Amid displacement and nostalgia, she found in cooking a way to sustain herself and care for others: every day, she prepares meals for migrants living in shelters at Floyd Bennett Field and the Roosevelt Hotel. At the same time, she navigates the weight of being a young mother, carrying the emotional and physical demands of motherhood and the responsibilities of her home. Her story is one of resilience and labor, where daily effort becomes an act of care and community, revealing that to feed others is also to love, and to hold onto dignity in the midst of migration.
